25 - 27 October 2019
The Hanseatic Time is one of the most economically and culturally successful eras in the history of Wesel. On the occasion of the 750-year existence of the city of Wesel in 1991, the International Hanseatic League Day was celebrated. Over 96 Hanseatic cities participated in this, 76 of which presented in a Hanseatic Market.
Due to the positive response, the idea to hold an annual Hanseatic Festival in Wesel in October was born. The historic Hanseatic Festival was brought to life where the Hanseatic guilds, merchants and Wesel celebrate of the entrance of Wesel to the Hanseatic League in 1407 on the final weekend in October. Now the Hanseatic festival is one of the best known historic festivals in Germany and attracts thousands of guests from near and far to the Hanseatic city of Wesel on the Rhine on an annual basis.
