Municipal Museum

The Municipal Museum in the cultural centre is expected to be renovated until 2026 in order to adapt the museum to current requirements and create a new cultural focus.

After the renovation, it will be possible for the first time to place the collection of the Municipal Museum more centre stage and make it accessible to visitors.
It preserves an important collection of late medieval and early modern panel painting by Lower Rhine and Cologne masters and Wesel silver. In the 1960s, the museum's collection was supplemented by parts of the well-known Kasimir Hagen art collection from Cologne, which included works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. From the 1970s onwards, a further focus was placed on the acquisition of works by 19th and 20th century artists from the Lower Rhine.

However, our art education programme will continue during the museum's renovation! You can find all information here: https://www.wesel.de/kultur-freizeit/staedtisches-museum/bildung-und-vermittlung
